IGNOU MBA: IGNOU MBA programme is a prestigious program that almost any graduate can take up. There are no minimum or maximum age requirements for the programme. Furthermore, candidates from outside India can take up the MBA programme as well. The Indira Gandhi National Open University is recognized as a Central University by the UGC of India (University Grants Commission). Hence, the programme holds considerable weightage; often equivalent to other recognized universities in India.

This article highlights everything a candidate is required to know about the MBA at IGNOU. The minimum duration of the course is 2 years while the maximum allowed duration is 5 years. In order for the candidates to successfully graduate, they must submit their assignments before the deadlines; failure to do so may leave them ineligible to attend the term-end examinations. Primary eligibility requires the candidate to be a graduate, and secure a minimum amount of marks. Students can find a List of IGNOU Courses from here.

IGNOU MBA Eligibility Criteria

The following are the requirements that the candidate must meet to be deemed eligible:

  • Must be a graduate with at least 50% marks. Candidates claiming reservation under Backward Classes must have secured 45% in their graduation
  • Candidates who are marks are awarded in CGPA must ensure that they meet the above percentage criteria after conversion from CGPA to percentage.
  • Candidates must also clear the OPENMAT, an entrance test held by the NTA (National Testing Agency). The exam is conducted twice a year.
  • There is no minimum or maximum age limit for the programme.

IGNOU MBA Admission

Candidates will have to write the OPENMAT entrance exam. The exam result will be displayed on the official IGNOU website as well as the NTA website.

A copy of the result card would be sent to all who appeared for the exam. The result card indicates whether the candidate has qualified the cut-off score. If the candidate has successfully cleared the cut-off, they can apply for admission in the Application form (Form 2), which is given with the prospectus.

Also, please ensure to retain at least 5 copies of the application form for future purposes. As stated above, admission to the MBA Programme will be done on the basis of cut off marks obtained by the candidates in OPENMAT, provided they fulfill the other aforementioned eligibility requirements.
